Back in 2022, I started listing my top 10 goals for the coming year. No more resolutions that last less than a month. While I haven’t been able to tick all 10 each year, I have managed to accomplish most of them. In 2024, I met 7 out of 10 goals and I was super elated about this. I have made significant progress compared to when I didn’t set any goals for myself.
As I set my goals for 2025, I am listing down my next 10 goals. Some of these are rollovers from last year. So what! I am going to make a fresh attempt in a fresh year.
Things I have learnt during this process of setting and tracking goals for the year:
List down goals early in the year: Setting goals helps you think, assess and then clearly put down what you desire from the coming year in your life – for yourself and for people around you. Setting goals is the first step. Take this step today! No further delay.
Make your goals holistic for a wholesome year: I try to cover 4 aspects of my life through these 10 goals. Health, Work, Personal growth, and Family. What are your top 3 – 4 priorities for next year? What are you trying to achieve in these areas?
Evaluate your progress regularly: If you list and forget, more likely that you will not make progress on many of these goals. Pin them up on a board in your work area or keep them pinned as a list on your desktop. Set aside time at the end of every quarter to see where you stand and assess your progress.
Stay Flexible and Adaptable: Life is unpredictable. Circumstances will change. The important thing is to be flexible with your goals. Be open to adapting them as needed. Adjusting your goals is not failure. It’s a sign of being realistic and responsive to changes.
Celebrate yourself when you achieve goals: Every time you achieve one or more of your goals, you are keeping a promise made to yourself. Your self-confidence will go up. You will feel more energized. You will grow to become a better version of yourself.
Learn from setbacks and stay positive: Setbacks happen. Reflect on them, learn from them, and adjust your approach. Keep pushing forward with a positive attitude. Your believe in yourself and persistence will make all the difference.
Find a Partner: If you feel you may not stay on course alone, share your goals with someone you trust. It could be a family member, a friend, or a mentor. They can help keep you motivated and accountable. Plus, they can give you that friendly nudge when things get tough.
A new you awaits in 2025. So, don’t get caught in the noise of vague resolutions any longer. Take some time today and list your goals for 2025.
Your journey to a better you is just one step away. Take that step today and keep thriving in 2025!
